3/4 c. sugar – 1 cup
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1 c. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
6 or 7 medium-size tart apples, peeled and sliced
1 T lemon juice
6 T water
Combine sugar, salt and flour. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs form. Mix in cheese and set aside.
Combine apples, water and lemon juice. Toss lightly. Spoon into a greased 8 inch square or larger baking dish. Sprinkle cheese mixture over apples and pat down gently. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
