Apple-Spice Sauce – 2012 1st Place: Miscellaneous

2 Tbls. butter or margarine
2 Tbls. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 can (21 ounces) apple pie filling
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Combine butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a medium saucepan. Stirring frequently, cook over medium-low heat until butter melts. Add pie filling and increase heat to medium. Continue to stir frequently until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in walnuts.
Store in refrigerator. Serve warm over ice cream or cake.
Yield: about 2 1/4 cups
